Cruise Guide Award 2018: AIDA wins twice!
Best in family friendliness and innovation
On the evening of the 8th Cruise Convention in Hamburg, the best ships of 2018 were honored. AIDA Cruises won twice: the award for the category "family friendliness" and also the expert jury's special award for "innovation" for the world's first LNG cruise ship, AIDAnova.
In its statement explaining why AIDAperla was chosen to receive the Cruise Guide Award for family friendliness, the jury said, "AIDA not only offers reasonably priced family and child airfare prices that spare families' budgets but also considers multi-member families in its stateroom concept. And the mascots Alwine, Itzi, Dodo and Achwasachwas are now stars themselves on board, not only on AIDAperla but also on AIDAprima, the sister ship with the same design."
AIDA Cruises received the jury's special award for the world's first LNG cruise ship. The reason: "AIDAnova does justice to its name. When the world's first LNG ship was ordered, the supply situation at ports was anything but clear – and the technology on board was a major challenge as well. So this was a courageous step," said the jury. "It has set a true example for future, more environmentally friendly shipping. This will improve the entire industry's reputation."
